Marilene Metzler
Marilene set up Jive Bug in 1998. It has since become one of the most successful Modern Jive organisations in the U.K., attracting dancers from near and far.
Marilene has also helped set up Monster Jive Cocktail, a weekend dance event that attracts around 500 dancers every year. Marilene has been an official judge at the UK Jive Open in Blackpool since 2002. Marilene is a Swiss National but was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Despite returning to Switzerland at the age of 6, she appears to have developed at that early age a love of Latin American music and a natural gift for dancing. Also developed in Brazil is her love of football. Marilene played in mixed teams in Switzerland until 18 and broke a leg in one of the matches; she doesn't play football any more but never misses a Brazil match on the TV Marilene is a trained homeopath (RSHom) and enjoys running her two businesses alongside one another. She says the biggest joy of running Jive Bug has been making so many good friends and seeing people's smiles when they are dancing.
